This is Me

My photo
I'm a displaced South/Central Texan living in Louisville Kentucky
I am a princess because I am a child of the Risen King! My background is Baptist, but believe I have a relationship not a religion. I married my childhood sweetheart and together we have raised two wonderful children and got them married off. I love everything about being a wife and mother. Now guess what? I am going to be a GRANDMA!! We are so excited for this next step in our lives.

Yield and Remeber Fill your Life with Laughter

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
Proverbs 17:22

Yield. We need to stop letting the world go by so fast. Take the time to create your own laughter journal. Especially if you have young kids, you will forget the funny things they say if you don’t write them down. Having a laughter journal is a great way to lift your spirit, because we know laughter is good like medicine, and helps tighten the abs at the same time!

Like these they just crack  me up every time I look back at them...

One of my all time favorites was when my son was about 4 we were at a stop light he was in the passenger seat. Before you had to have a booster seat and we knew better, I was looking out my side window when I hear him yell, "Look I'm a bow and arrow!" I turned to see and he had taken the seat belt and put his head in the shoulder strap and leaned forward with his arms out. Yes he did look like a Bow and Arrow!  : D

The other day I shared one about the Tomato Drill at school. Just so cute, oh how they grow so fast. Here are a few more from the same set of kids.

Conversation with a 7 year old:
"Mom, Katherine was yelling at me!!!!"
"And what were you doing?"
"Yelling at her. But she didn't have to yell back!"
The three year old sings the song "If you're happy in your nose, clap your hands". There is absolutely NO convincing her any differently!
The 6 year old wanted me to ask her questions so she could show me how smart she is. So I asked her "what's the capital of Ohio?" She thinks for a second then proudly says "O"!
Between thunderstorms (the 3 yr old does NOT like thunder. "can you please turn it off mommy?") and spider nightmares (please don't even mention the creatures around the 6 yr old), no one got much sleep last night.

So Yield,
What is your favorite funny memory?

Easy Pot Pie

Today we are getting a rain snow mix and being told this is what we will can expect for tomorrow as well. Yuck! Just a week or so ago we had about a week in the high 70's and even hitting 80!! ahhh, I had a tase of Spring and I liked it!! But that was all we had now it's been back to this mess and it's days like this I really miss living in Texas and near Galveston.

I decided today I am going to make Pity Party Pot Pie.  Oh, ok I don't like Pity Parties either. But I have a lot of pain today and I am a bit grumpy about the weather too. This is an easy Pot Pie and I thought I would share the recipe. It's very yummy and the left overs - if you have any, warm up very well!

 1 egg
1 tablespoon water
6 cups diced cooked turkey or chicken
5 cups frozen mixed vegetables or your favorite frozen vegetable blend
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups  Chicken Broth or Chicken Stock
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 of a 17.3-ounce package Pepperidge Farm® Puff Pastry Sheets (1 sheet), thawed according to package directions
2 tablespoons coarsely chopped fresh herbs (parsley, thyme and/or oregano)
  • Heat the oven to 400°F. Beat the egg and water in a small bowl with a fork.
  • Stir the turkey and vegetables in a 3-quart (13 x 9-inch) shallow baking dish.
  • Heat the butter in a 2-quart saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and cook and stir for 3 minutes. Gradually stir the broth into the saucepan. Cook and stir for 5 minutes or until the mixture boils and thickens. Stir in the black pepper. Pour the broth mixture over the turkey mixture.
  • Unfold the pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Roll the pastry sheet into a 13 x 9-inch rectangle. Place the pastry over the filling. Press the pastry to the rim to seal. Brush the pastry with the egg mixture and sprinkle with the herbs.  Cut several slits in the pastry.
  • Bake for 25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the filling is hot and bubbling.  Let cool on a wire rack for 20 minutes.
Enjoy!!

Spring Blues and Tomato Drills

I am linking into
Mosaic Monday  http://dearlittleredhouse.blogspot.com/
Blue Monday  http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/

Today I am sharing some pretty Spring shades of blue. I hope the weather gets the hint, we all have Spring fever, and the calendar says that Spring, but apparently the weather didn't get the memo. Yesterday to a blanket of snow! We had more flurries last night and we are looking at a possibility for some more this coming weekend!! When did I move to the Artic Circle? Ok pull it in Drama Queen. I know I shouldn't be so shocked that's what happens this time of year around here it's just still new to me. I love the snow and still think it is so pretty anytime of year.

~giggles I just hate to be cold! Silly Texan~

I love the Robin's egg blue and wouldn't you just love to take that car to the beach on a warm day!?!

Ok so I have a funny to share today. Kids say the cutest things and here is something from my friends little girls.
The 3 year old had a tomato drill at school Friday apparently. Even funnier than her demonstrations of what to during a tomato was watching the 7 year old laugh hysterically at her sister's word mix-up.
Have a happy week!

Pink Words to Live By & Saturday Centus

Today I just have a few simple pink words that pack a big punch!

 &

 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

I pray for peace, comfort and joy to be yours

I’m not a chicken
Though you may see me dancin’
You see it’s just a barn party and that’s me you see kickin’
That old chicken dance
Can nearly make me loose my pants
But no I’m not a chicken
That’s just me tickin

hummmmm well that's what I got ladies

He makes my life pretty!

Hello ladies, join me in the kitchen today for this very pretty illustration.

Sometimes we wonder,
'What did I do to deserve this?' or
'Why did God have to do this to me?'
Here is a wonderful explanation!
A daughter is telling her Mother how everything
is going wrong, she's failing algebra, her boyfriend
broke up with her and her best friend is moving away.
Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and
asks her daughter if she would like a snack, and the
daughter says, 'Absolutely Mom, I love your cake.'
'Here, have some cooking oil,' her Mother offers.
'Yuck' says her daughter..
'How about a couple raw eggs?' 'Gross, Mom!'
'Would you like some flour then?
Or maybe baking soda?'
'Mom, those are all yucky!'
To which the mother replies:
'Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves.

But when they are put together in the
right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake! '
God works the same way. Many times we wonder why
He would let us go through such bad and difficult
times. But God knows that when He puts these things
all in His order, they always work for good! We just
have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all
make something wonderful!
God is crazy about you.
He sends you flowers every spring and
a sunrise every morning.
Whenever you want to talk, He'll listens.

He makes our lives pretty if we let Him in

X is for Xenicidae

Xenicidae is a cute tiny little bird found in New Zealand.

These sweet little birds are from the wrens family

This family has just three species; which are:

Rifleman Acanthisitta chloris
Bush Wren Xenicus longipes [Probably extinct last reported in 1972]
South Island Wren Xenicus gilviventris

So, that is my letter X for Jenny's class today. Everyone better head on over to some other Alphabet Thursday blog pages! Her sister has been sitting in on her class... and well let just say the ruler and the knuckles.... yep she's one of those!  Well if you take a peek around and see you don't have to be told twice really, I love looking around so many creative and wonderful people to visit! So here is where you go.  http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com/2011/03/alphabe-thursdays-letter-x.html

Thinking outside the box?

My mother lives in New Braunfels Texas and she sent me an email with adorable place. I just had to use it for Outdoor Wednesday!

Look at this shot into the quaint living room nice and cozy. I love the wood wall behind the sofa!
WHY is this Outdoor Wednesday? -- keep looking

Now here is the kitchen I would prefer a full size refrigerator on that wall, a full stove and microwave where the table and chairs are on the wall by the stairs leading up to the second floor. We could work out eating in the living room.

Still not outside -- I know keep looking your just not going to believe it!

Wonderful warm bedroom  snuggle in and read a book!
Ok, There's a window that goes outside! no, of course that is not what I am leading to for being outside for Outdoor Wedensday! keep going it's Amazing!

This place seems very modern, perhaps like something you'd see in a swanky high rise condo or town house.

So why is this little place a great post for Outdoor Wednesday if all I have shown you was indoor photo's?

HERE'S THE INCREDIBLE PART!!...

This 1 bedroom loft apartment from the OUTSIDE......

was built inside a 1940's grain bin.

It was renovated into this upscale unit after it was purchased and relocated to the grounds of the Gruene Homestead Inn  New Braunfels ,TX

If that's not creative craftsmanship, then I don't know what is!
I couldn't help but share this because it is so cool! So there it's sits      OUTDOORS   ~wink wink~

Now would you have thought to do that with the old silos on the farm.

YES, Spring is finally here!

Spring is finally here and flowers and trees are beginning to bloom and the cherry blossom trees are just getting buds and a few have enough pink to them to tell just what they are!

It is Spring and the window can open and the fresh air can come in and make the whole house feel just as light as all the pretty new grass and plants outside!

It's Spring and we can pull out some pretty light weight clothes we all forgot we owned and pack away the heavy coats and sweater that are so think they added a couple of pounds to us!

It's Spring we can once again enjoy outdoor activities like picnics and walks. Our city have many activities along the river front that are very family friendly.  Yes, just a few ideas and reasons why I am glad Spring is finally here!

Good mornig, good morning

Peppy and pretty in her blue dress and perfectly matched shoes Debbie Reynolds looks perfect to me wish you a Good Blue Monday Morning

Oh yes, I dare you to clink on this link and watch this and not tap your foot and bob your head!!!
Good Morning to YOU!

I hope you are have a wonderful Blue Monday! May your toes tap and your heart sing! All your chores get done with ease and everyone that crosses your path picks up your contagious smiles ~

Dance your way over to  http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/   and see more beautiful Blue Monday joys

Pink Dresses Dress Up Satuday

I don't think a girl ever out grows playing dress up. We just get to do it in clothes that fit and cost a lot more.

Welcome to Pink Saturday

I would love to  try on  play dress up  own and wear some of these pink dresses!

Oh I know,  if I were caught twirling in these I would be given a few looks. But you all know by now my love for not only the "good ol' days, but the look of vintage style.  Well I dress as normal as the next gal. I guess as "vintage" as I get is the sweet twin set sweaters! But aren't these fun?

So maybe this is more the kind of dresses for our styles of the day and yes oh yes it is very pink pretty. Hummm, where could I dress up and go?

Now this little girl can wear any color she want's and be a cute little bug, but oh how she is Pretty in Pink!

Puppy is ok in Pink, she's actually sweet........

.............but in no way put the cat in pink!!!

I just had to add this picture of my daughter shopping at the mall. She found a cute pink tutu skirt she couldn't resist. Her shirt says; "This is what perfect looks like"  Yes, she's my perfect girly girl pink princess!

Have a wonderful Pink Saturday! Check out more Pink post at
