This is Me

My photo
I'm a displaced South/Central Texan living in Louisville Kentucky
I am a princess because I am a child of the Risen King! My background is Baptist, but believe I have a relationship not a religion. I married my childhood sweetheart and together we have raised two wonderful children and got them married off. I love everything about being a wife and mother. Now guess what? I am going to be a GRANDMA!! We are so excited for this next step in our lives.

Spring Cleaning

Finally got our spring cleaning done. We did the carpet cleaner to the top of the refrigerator and all the doors and cabinets wiped down. It may be late but it all got done

I LOVE A CLEAN HOUSE!!!!

We were to see the screening of “My Sisters Keeper” but we got there late. So we were told we could see any movie we wanted to for free. We chose “Night at the Museum Battle of the Smithsonian”. It was ok I liked the first one MUCH better.

Fish Fry

Last night we went to the Fish Fry at church last night. It was we have a great group of people. We had lawn chairs and blankets set up all over and some set up inside for those who just didn't want to be outside. The same couple cooks for all our events; they own the restaurant The Starving Artist. It is ALWAYS GOOD.

We also had a great time on Sat. at a gathering where this same couple did the pulled pork and other food for the BBQ. We had so much fun. Tim pulled out a Karaoke machine. We all took a trip back to the 80’s. It was like being at prom again. Tim singing I’m too Sexy, and It’s Raining Men had to be the hit of the night.

spring

Early Spring our back yard full of Daffodils. I wish they could be seen better here they were so pretty.

Up close. I love this old stump. We plan to keep it it adds character.

I hung a Hummimg Bird feeder. It's a Glass hot air balloon. We get a lot of Humming birds and I can see them here from the couch.

View from the couch with both frnch door open. You can see the Humming bird feeder hanging in my Rosemary bush. I love to cook with Rosemary and it smells good just being in the planter. On the right you can see I have planters of Basil,Cilantro, and Jalapenos. Next to them is a bird feeder I put out for the Chipmunks to come and eat I love to watch them they are so cute!

Same shot a closer look

I had a hanging Bell of bird seed. The Squirrels hung on it and knocked it down this is one of my little buddies eating on it.

They are really cute and a lot of fun to watch

I am trying to befriend them, but they aren't having any of it. People have them eating out of their hands. Literally!

The Latest News

Last night we went to a viewing of a very dear man who passed away Tues. This was the father of a friend of ours. I had fallen in love with this sweet sweet man the first time I saw him and told Trent I was adopting him. When I found out he was Rozy’s Dad I laughed and told her I had claimed him for myself. She was kind enough to share. He fell ill and it was hard to watch as he had Pulmonary fibrosis the same disease that took Trent’s dad from us. This is a very, well it’s just awful there are no words.

Today was the service I had to go to Physical therapy but I did go to the church to serve the meal. The family was doing well, and eat well. It was a cold day the high was only 61 and there was light rain off and on. I was sorry for it have been so yucky for them.

This week end should be nice and sunny and in the mid to high 80’s. We are going to have a pool and BBQ party to go to this sounds great I am looking forward to this!

Kevin is working on a few investment projects and is working on finishing up another one of our houses. He is also fixing the floor in a house that the renters just moved out of and we have new renters moving in this weekend.

Melissa is ALWAYS busy. We almost never see her. She works hard and has made great friends. She has a birthday party to go to this weekend.

Memorial Day... Plus

On Mon. Memorial Day, because of the rain we decided not to spend $20.00 each for Abbey Road and wait for next year. Turns out the rain did hold off. Other than a sprinkle and we may have been ok. Instead Trent and I went to The Falls of the Ohio. It was really nice we walked a little bit of the trails. And went out on the rocks by the water looking for fossils but had no idea what we were looking at. We had more fun sitting up under the trees leaning on the rocks watching and listening to others who thought they were looking at a creature 3 million years old who knows maybe they were. But when a 5 yr. old keeps yelling here’s one!, here’s one! I wonder. ..

We did see a few fossils but we don’t know what we were looking at. One man was real nice to point some things to us like the coral that was the easy to find.

I was trying to be stealthy and sneak photos of these guys. I hope they weren't actually planning on eating any of the fish. I wouldn't want to eat anything that came out of the Ohio River

The trees were quite amazing. Those who know me well know I love trees and am weird that way. I just love a beautiful tree. Well these poor old trees were very determined to grow! Just look at those roots!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tues. night we had Kevin and Lauren over for dinner. MissaAnn has church group on Tues. so missed having her. Usually I make from scratch especially desserts but I bought Toll House Brownies with Peanut Butter in the middle. GO BUY SOME RIGHT NOW!! You can read the rest while you eat the brownies. I’ll wait......................……..tola loo………….. Arn’t they AMAZING?!?!?!!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today is my day to go to the Marriot and swim. Trent usually goes with me and reads. It’s a relaxing place too. It feels and looks very much like being on a cruise ship. That’s it for now…………

A little Tour

I still find it odd that I wake up in Louisville Kentucky. And that I can then ride in the car for 13 miles about 20 minutes, and be in Indiana and spend the day reading a book at the Falls of the Ohio. I see things like funny brushes bolted to the sidewalk outside of doors made for brushing off snow and ice before you walk in. Drive through Chili spots like burger joints. Oh, and they put cinnamon in their chili and put it over spaghetti People here plant to grow big lush gardens of…. Are you ready for it….. Butter Cups! LOL we mow those down in Texas! Not that we don’t love them and have a very fond place in our hearts for them from childhood. But we have always known them to be “weeds”. Well, except for the year Melissa talked Kevin into not mowing a big circle in the back yard so she could keep a flower garden. Oh yeah, it was pretty yellow, white, and pink, all dandelions and butter cups and such. Well we let her keep it for a while.

In the map above, MissaAnn, Trent and I live in Douglass Hills the dot above the “s” in Hills. Kevin and Lauren are 3 miles to the left (west) along the gold line and are where the “t’s” are in Matthews. We are 11.4 miles from the Airport by its code letter “sdf”. And 12 miles from Churchill Downs located below the y in Shively. Now my little reading corner is only 13 miles and across the river right where the top of the L point to. Well there’s your little tour with an over view. It’s not a big place as you can see nothing is far or takes long to get there. And the road way system is easy.

Happy Renters

We have just had a new contract on a house and will have our tenant move in soon. She believe she will be much happier here because it is sure to be much more quite than her last home. Why? Because she was next door to a “Motor Cycle Club”. Now this may be a fine establishment with great guys and gals. Don’t go growling Mr. bikers I just mean wow, that would be some kind of noise to have so many bikes coming and going. And we are perfectly happy to have the rent too. Now for the business side. This will be full pay which means sec8 will pay it all we will not have to collect any rent. Yippie ki yi aye.

chit chatting

Well, I must say. I spent some time with the new world of twitters. I have decided they have work to do to catch up with Facebook and other sites where people have been keeping up with each other for a while now. I can’t see the advantage to Twitter over Facebook as far as keeping up with family and friends. Twitter is a fun way to get a lot of info from a lot of sources at one time, that’s facebook. I have friends and family from all over the world sharing quick notes to pictures albums and other fun pieces of flair on Facebook. Now for the Blogger I Thought this would be a way for people to just go to a site and read what is going on with out having to join anything and I could just write whats going on post pictures and get repsonses back. simple.

May 18

Louisville, KY * Today Fair 69° /Tomorrow 46° 79° / Wednesday 54° 85° /

Today we woke to find we had a frost last night. Yep, a frost! It's turned out to be a very pretty day of about 70. I have been outside weeding out the bed where I have put Blubonnet seeds. I know have the leaves but no blue flowers yet. I will post those for sure as soon as they bloom, if I get any this first year out of them.

My diet is really tuff. Oatmeal. That's it, oatmeal. I have at least one Boost every day and at least one V8. This is because that's been about the only thing I seem to do well with and I want to be sure I get enough protein and veggies. I ate a turkey burger with no topping except some home made guacamole and one scoop of peach cobbler when we had Kevin's Birthday. It was a simple and fresh Guacamole (which by the way I am suppose to be able to eat) and a simple ground turkey burger. I missed church Sunday and I am still paying for it today.

I have done well with my daily walks, I am doing 2.0 miles a day. Working on the upper stength still and that is so much harder for me. I can't seem to get beyond 3 pounds. I feel better when I get this done and I stay away from food. Just need to be sure I don't get to a point of weakness from no food. so I need to still work on what I can have. That has not been easy as so far it seems like it has been nothing. I bought soy milk today and eggs I am allowed egg whites so I will try scrambled egg whites to add to my list of Boost, V8, Oatmeal. I'm grooving now.

Crohn's Disease

The latest in medical news….. I have Crohn's Disease. I have been dealing with IBS diet restrictions and what the Dr. gave me as a lit to go by leaves nothing to eat. No dairy except egg whites, No meat except white meat poultry and fish, No sugar, No sugar substitute. Ahhh the list goes on.

We had sleet today and was really really cold. I can’t wait until Friday we are to get into the 80’s!!!!!!. Finally we should stay up around 70’s and 80’s and only have a few days in the 60’s for our highs.

I am so excited

We will be picking up Mom Metcalf from the airport on Sat 4/11! We will have her here over Easter and her birthday! I'm just sorry it won't seem any warmer than Christmas was. Well, yes it will, but still very cool with some rain. Hopefully all flurries will be gone by then. We were hoping for good weather to go out and do more.

Second It's DERBY TIME! I have been going over all the festival events and making our calendar. This is so big here, those in Houston think the Rodeo is big? uh-uh New Orleans mardi Gras uh-uh the kids are out of school the whole week of events go all day every day and they begin with worlds largest and best firework display and show. (Second is Macy's 4th of July) The day starts with the Thunder Air Show at 3pm and goes to 9pm. Then there is a week of amazing, crazy, anything you can think of contest and shows. From Bed Races where teams sign up to build and race beds to golf tounements.

Here are some pictures of last years Thunder

Above and below are both of the 2nd street bridge that crosses from Louisville Kentucky to Indiana - you can see the light of Jeffersonville IN. on the otherside on the picture above.

It's Springing with snow

I woke up this morning and saw some trees had some green on them. Some of the red buds and cherry blossoms were trying to make their appearance as well. Then when I got back from my appointment I saw the news, we are in for sleet and snow on Monday. Yeah well it snowed last Easter too. We really don't get all the way out of this until the 2nd week of May.

OK I have promised some Spring Pictures. Don't have them all on the computer yet but here are some of my favorite The Tulip Tree. This tree is amazing and pictures just don't do it justice.

Rain Rain Go Away

It's been raining for a few days and we have more in the forcast until Tuesday. I guess that will be good for the plants and flowers. But it keeps it too cold. It's still in the 50's. I am really ready for August when we finally get some 80's around here. Wow what I would do for a beach right now!

Taken while we were in St. Thomas the "S" is messed up but it was warm and the sand felt soooo goooood!
