This is Me

My photo
I'm a displaced South/Central Texan living in Louisville Kentucky
I am a princess because I am a child of the Risen King! My background is Baptist, but believe I have a relationship not a religion. I married my childhood sweetheart and together we have raised two wonderful children and got them married off. I love everything about being a wife and mother. Now guess what? I am going to be a GRANDMA!! We are so excited for this next step in our lives.

Pretty from the Inside

When I started to think about my Friday Pretties post,  I wondered what is pretty? Oh there are many things I came up with, but one thing popped in my head that I couldn’t ignore.  I think some people are pretty on the inside as well as the outside.

What I’m talking about is how we treat one another and how we make our selves look. Not with make up, but our actions.  Don’t get me wrong I’m all for getting all gussyed up! But when you put that lip stick on and you are looking in the mirror making sure it’s the right shade of red, do you ever think about what will cross over those lips as the day goes by?

Us ladies our known for our gossip. It's not a very pretty sight to see a friend hurting because of a conversation she learns you may have been a part of. We need to take a stand and keep ourselves from saying or doing things that can not only be cruel but an adult form of bullying.

Are you an encourager or do you break people down? When you see someone in need, do you speak up right away and offer help in what ever way is possible for you?

Remember always look pretty on the outside, but it’s the pretty inside that really matters! As my grandma would say, Being a lady. So what ever you put on to dress for today and your tomorrows remember to be pretty on the inside too!

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
I Peter 3:3-4

W is for Elima

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Ok, let me explain my title. Today at Alphabet Thursday our letter is W. Now Wanda would be too easy wouldn't it? Ok, well, I'm not going to stray away from what I usually post about and that's being a Wife. Yes the retro house Wife and the life we live.

Let me introduce you to Elima. She is simply a charming lady and a wonderful Wife! We are going to go through her day as a Wife and many of you may be familiar with what you see! Here she starting the day getting the coffee ready.  She gets a bit Silly waiting for her caffeine fix, she just has the best laugh can't you just hear it?!!

Now she has had some coffee, as a loving Wife she is going to cook some breakfast and send her husband off to work well feed and ready to face the world! I love how she does it wit a joyous heart!

Now the our dear Wife has the house to herself what will she do? It's time to make the bed. Now I laugh, I've never seen anyone climb all over a bed so much to make it have you?

While she outside waiting on the laundry to dry, she tends to the garden. Oh the homemade sauces that come from fresh veggies!

Oh dear, Oh dear, she yells running before the rain starts to get the laundry before it's all wet! BAM! goes the thunder. Our poor Wife O' the day jumps and she starts to gets the giggles again.....

Now all Wives need a moment in our busy day to take time to play. Aren't they both just so beautiful!

Back to work for this Wife, she has to get the house dusted and bathroom and kitchen scrubbed. She is so much better than I am at wearing those gloves. I hate the gloves. I have to be able to feel just what I am doing. My hands will look awful when I am her age. But I do keep the lotion companies very happy!

.....And finally like most Wives Elima is a mother, and as mothers they need to help their children from to time. Here is Elima doing her daughters hair. Well, she got the giggles ... AGAIN!! Once she starts she can't stop. It's so infectious ah hahaha!!!

I hope you enjoyed your day with Elima our Wife of the day. May you get the giggles and laugh through all your housework like she does!

I believe if you have a grateful heart for what you have and love who you are doing it all for it's all a joy!

Live a life filled with love for others, following the example of Christ, who loved you and gave himself as a sacrifice to take away your sins. And God was pleased, because that sacrifice was like sweet perfume to him.
Ephesians 5:2

Beautiful Buttons

I love buttons. Not sure when it started or why. I have collected them for as far back as I can remember. I have 3 huge jars full of old buttons. Many of them go back as far as my great grandmother.

Today I am linking up with the ladies at White Wednesday and I thought about whit Buttons. So I went on a search.

Oh I just love it! Look at this little purse. You just can't get more cute than that.

Then I saw this tiny wreath. How cute would this be on a cabinet  knob in a bath? This is all I found of this picture I sure would like to know more about it and what they did use it for.

This necklaces is darling. I would wear that! A pair of jeans and sweet shirt this would just finish the outfit.
To close with I will show this little heart and dedicate it to everyone in Japan and for those who have loved ones over there. My cousin who is in the Navy,  has lived over there for several years. They have become accustomed to earthquakes on a daily basis. I can't even imagine that! We are able to talk by phone on Vonage and she is actually able to be on Facebook when power is on. They are near the nuclear areas and are really worried at this point. I know so may of you are praying and I thank you for that. I know God is in control. So please pray for peace and comfort for all the people.

Spring is Coming!

I think this one picture kinda sums up the whole weather for all of us. Some of us are still with snow and building a snowman! Some are already warm enough for a nice swim!

We had a lot of fun with our snowman building this year. This is me and husband. Our daughter and son and law all had fun playing in the snow on the very snowy day.

But with Spring now on it way the fun little snow men are going to melt away. Unless you have some clever little ones in your home!

How about baking up some of these cute little sugar cookies as a fun way to say goodbye to the snowman and hello to Spring. I saw these at http://www.crazydomestic.com/2010/12/melted-snowman-cookies.html and had to give them a try over the weekend. they were a hit at our little family gathering.

Happy Tuesday I am off to get a much needed therapeutic massage and physical therapy session.

Blue Jay

I have been hearing more and more birds singing every morning. During the day I see them out with the squirrels looking for food. I always keep a big bowl of goodies on the back deck. Not only do I love to watch all the wild like out there, but the kitty sure gets excited too.

For Blue Monday I have a pretty Blue Jay who has found a yummy crunchy peanut! You should see them get into these shells! If you don't put food out and have space to do so I recommend it. I find myself watching them and forgetting to watch what I turned the TV on for.

I am linking up with all the fun folks at Blue Monday at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/
Check out all the pretty Pretty Blue things over there!

Smiling Sally

Rain drops from the porch tops

I was trying to get some yard work done. The yard hasn’t been touched since fall and there were a lot of leaves that had been left behind. I had a fight with a rose bush as I was cutting it back. Let say it won the battle against my hands and arms but I won the war! I guest that is a true War of the Roses right there.  I am hoping I get the Hydrangeas to come back to the height and blooms we had last year too. We have a beautiful yard that stays blooming all summer long something new is always blooming!  This is why a lovely porch or deck is such a wonderful treat to have. Right now we have rain coming down off the edges of the porch.

April showers bring May Flowers.....and we are finally finding blooms and are they pretty!!

God’s Promise

THANK YOU for all who have been praying for everyone in Japan and for my family who are over there. (picture to the right) I have up dated the status and so happy to say it is good news!

Notice there are many English words for the meaning of translation of the Hebrew, therefore we have different Bible translations. Look at the wonderful descriptions of Gods strength and love during His protection of us.

Psalm 18:2

King James Bible
The LORD [is] my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, [and] my high tower.

New American Standard Bible
The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

New Living Translation
The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.

I don't know the name of this song but I just love the promise.

Are you discouraged and are you blue
Are clouds obscuring the sun from view?
Keep trusting Jesus, though storms assail
You have His promise He will not fail
CHORUS
It’s always darkest before the dawn,
Don’t be discouraged but carry on,
He’ll not forsake you, the sun will break through
It’s always darkest before the dawn.
He knows your heartache, He understands,
Just put your problems in His great hands,
No trouble meets you but in His will,
He’s not forgotten, He loves you still.

The Carousel

You know when you are near a carousel. The sound of a Wurlitzer band organ blast and leads you in. Keep looking, soon we will find the Pinks and Greens of the sign!

There it is!  Come on, let’s go for a ride. It’s Saturday, It’s Pink Saturday!  Pick your horse.  These wonderful creatures take you to far away places as you ride up and down on his glorious back. This beautiful horse has won first place, look at his pretty blue ribbon and his wonderful Derby like banner of roses in Pink  and Green leaves.

WOW!  Step up and look at the lights and spectacular paintings of Pinks and Greens on this ceiling.  Ohhh…. oooo Can you smell the Pink  cotton candy they are selling off to the left?

Hold on tight here we GOoooooo!!

Oh my goodness I think I lost my Pink  bow.... that's ok it really didn't go with my Green shirt anyway. Well it's time to head back to the house how about we stop by the "Red Box" (that's not to far from pink) and get the movie "Carousel."
Both our leading ladies dressed in Pink  for the occasion today - aren't they a couple of dolls? Somebody forgot to wear Green  though uuu-huhummm Mr. down there....

Carousel is a 1956 film adaptation of the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical of the same name which, in turn, was based on Ferenc Molnár's non-musical play Liliom. The 1956 Carousel film stars Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones, and was directed by Henry King. Like the original stage production, the film contains what many critics consider some of Rodgers and Hammerstein's most beautiful songs, as well as what may be, along with the plots of Allegro and South Pacific, the most serious storyline found in their musicals.

Thanks for going with me to the Pink and Green Carousel. I hope you have a happy healthy  Pink Saturday

and..... ;'.,Happy St. Patrick's Day ,.';

Remember to pray for everyone involved with this Japan Earthquake and the following Tsunami's. I have family living in Japan, they tell us their home is destroyed, it's cold, and they are in their car waiting.  Our US soil will be affected by this as well. Hawaii and California are looking at flooding under Tsunami warnings!
