This is Me

My photo
I'm a displaced South/Central Texan living in Louisville Kentucky
I am a princess because I am a child of the Risen King! My background is Baptist, but believe I have a relationship not a religion. I married my childhood sweetheart and together we have raised two wonderful children and got them married off. I love everything about being a wife and mother. Now guess what? I am going to be a GRANDMA!! We are so excited for this next step in our lives.

Yield and Remeber Fill your Life with Laughter

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
Proverbs 17:22

Yield. We need to stop letting the world go by so fast. Take the time to create your own laughter journal. Especially if you have young kids, you will forget the funny things they say if you don’t write them down. Having a laughter journal is a great way to lift your spirit, because we know laughter is good like medicine, and helps tighten the abs at the same time!

Like these they just crack  me up every time I look back at them...

One of my all time favorites was when my son was about 4 we were at a stop light he was in the passenger seat. Before you had to have a booster seat and we knew better, I was looking out my side window when I hear him yell, "Look I'm a bow and arrow!" I turned to see and he had taken the seat belt and put his head in the shoulder strap and leaned forward with his arms out. Yes he did look like a Bow and Arrow!  : D

The other day I shared one about the Tomato Drill at school. Just so cute, oh how they grow so fast. Here are a few more from the same set of kids.

Conversation with a 7 year old:
"Mom, Katherine was yelling at me!!!!"
"And what were you doing?"
"Yelling at her. But she didn't have to yell back!"
The three year old sings the song "If you're happy in your nose, clap your hands". There is absolutely NO convincing her any differently!
The 6 year old wanted me to ask her questions so she could show me how smart she is. So I asked her "what's the capital of Ohio?" She thinks for a second then proudly says "O"!
Between thunderstorms (the 3 yr old does NOT like thunder. "can you please turn it off mommy?") and spider nightmares (please don't even mention the creatures around the 6 yr old), no one got much sleep last night.

So Yield,
What is your favorite funny memory?

I was not blessed with children, but I was blessed with nieces. A few years ago my Sister needed a sitter in a hurry. I went out to get in my car, wouldn't start, so I borrowed my Dad's truck. My Sister lives 40 minutes away. When I picked up her daughter, I put her in the back seat in her carseat. She was just learning to talk and I heard a very quiet...."mmmm, daaaa fuuun." I heard it a couple of times and looked back. Apparently, Dad's truck seat belt would not tighten when you stepped on the breaks. SO when I would stop at a stop light, her entire carseat would gently go forward, then back! I had to drive 40 minutes back home that way because I had other kids to watch! Now when I'm doing something fun, I'll say..."mmmm, daaaa fuuuun."

Sorry I had to delete my first comment....should have spelled checked.

When my husband had a heart episode, I said "I want to grow old with grandpa" to which my little granddaughter replied... But Grandma you ARE old!" From the mouth of babes. We all got a laught out of it.

Cute stories. A funny thing of ours is that our youngest child was singing a 4 Tops song (Bernadette) in the back seat one day. It was indicative of his big brother's liking for rock music when we realized what he was actually singing:

"Burned to death" instead of "Bernadette."

A funny aside...The singer, now grown, is currently applying to medical school, and his big brother is already a marriage family and child therapist.

Well, one of my favorite memories that comes to mind is when I was in the grocery store with my daughter. I'd say she was around five, and I caught her lifting her dress slowly and saying Whaaaaa. She did it to everyone that would look at her. It wasn't until I was watching the Carol Burnett show one evening when I saw Tim Conway do skit called the flasher. He was opening his trench coat and say Whaaaaa. It was then I knew she was sneeking out of bed and watching TV from the corner of our hall. Little stinker!~Ames

Congrats on becoming a grandmother soon! I was just blessed with a second grandson in March!

My first little grandson and I SKYPE as he lives across the country and he always asks me why I wear glasses and then answers himself by saying " To see me, better, Nonna?"
